My cosmo racing strut brace has arrived either its wrong or there is something odd with my car.
There is a bolt which is stopping the strut brace plate from sitting flush.
What is this bolt? Can I grind it off or do I need to modify the strut brace to suit?
Cheers

That is the earth point should you need to jump start the car ... this needs to be removed to get it fitted ... think this has been asked before ...
I only found out what it was from when I owned the last car and had a flat battery ... lots of head scratching ... and phone calls to BMW helpline then bingo ...
:D
That' where one of your jump lead's go when you have a flat
battery

Alternatively, grind a bit off the Cosmo foot-plate.

Thanks for the replies. I will see which is easier to do tomorrow, relocating the bolts or grinding a bit off the base plate.
I guess the base plate as I do not want to alter the car in a anyway

You should have two different plates with your cosmo racing strut. One of the plates is fully cylindrical, the other has a section cut away to make room for the jump lead bolt. Have they delivered both plates without any cut-away?

Chris 2 plates were delivered, one with the cut out. The cut out is slighlty offset to where the bolt is. The only way I can fit the plate is to enlargen the cut out.

I would send it back to Cosmo and ask for a replacement rather than cutting away anything on the plate or your car. The three struts that myself, Broccers and RPM ordered all had plates that fitted correctly.
Chris.
It could be that the earthing point position is slightly different car to car?

i would be suprised, all parts (wings) are mass produced, these strut braces probably are too then they have the bit cut out!
if you tell them they should just send you out another one with the right cut-out, just get them to do a send and swap TNT have done that before for me!

Itching to have it on before the Welsh weekend, so I think I will remove or relocate the earthing point.
Possibly they have sent one for the American model, the s52 engine?

would it not be safer to just cut out the bit on the brace?
