can anyone recommend a company to shorten the MC propshaft, I may have a 6 speed box

Am I getting to the point where I am not going to be able to sell this car?

would you buy one with a 6 speed box?

thanks

Its a strange situation; when you look for cars to buy you look for clean standard ones then modify them yourself but you might look at one with the same modifications already less favourably.

Personally I think it would be a good idea to have a 6-speed gearbox. If its fitted and works perfectly then I would be tempted to leave out of an advert, not to missell it but the modification might put people off initially (becasue its "modified"), but if they didn't know and turned up for a test drive and found a 6-speed I'd see that as a bonus.

As long as there was a tonne of history, pictures, receipts and warrantees (valid or expired) I'd buy the car. It shows that the mods haven't been rushed and it's a labour of love.
As for a 'public' advert (i.e. Auto Trader) I'd be tempted to omit some things as C_W suggests but not if you were selling on here.

so are you getting the 3.91 ratio? I still have to arrange a weekend to get the headlights off you. What's happening to the 3.64? I just bought a 3.73 and did think about the 6-speed as well. What tipped you over the edge?

I don't see why selling it is a problem. Car should have come this way anyhow and the bolt on seems quite easily done as well.

Hello Khooni

Still have the 3.64 and only considering putting a 6 speed box as I might have come accross one at a bargain price!

also as M3 compact kindly told me the 6th gear will reduce the revs in 6th by 17%

so less pressure on the engine, 80mph in 5th is 4krpm now...

so it would reduce it to roughly 3300krpm

PLUS I would like to be the 1st person to do it in the uk :D

you can get the headlights anytime although I move house in 4 weeks and it would be handy to see them gone before then

So does a 6 speed box have the same/similar ratios as a 5 speed but with the 6th gear being higher?

no one ever talked about weight of the 6-speed box. I enquired from FAB direct and a 6-speed was about £1200. I wonder how muany hours of install would racing technologies charge you? I'm going to Bexley motorworks for my diff upgrade.

I can't see it being much heavier, but if it is heavier its in the best place (low and central).
