I think this car was advertised at £8,000 a couple of weeks ago. So not being able to sell it at that price the vendor has increased the price, interesting logic!!

i think it was a different person then....im not even sure if its the same car. i think because hes put a warranty on it he's asking for more.
is it worth the money? i was thinking of gettin live remappin done to it should be able to get 250bhp from it.
Im still thinking is it worth buying the real MC?

I have sent you a PM

you will never be happy with a replica!
an important aspect of the MC is its performance and character, not just its looks!
if you are considering this then a sure buy has to be Rogers Phoenix S54 at £10,500!!!
good luck whatever you decide!

Went to see it today guys....its a good car actually, condition is good i was impressed. Not as quick as my mates MC but ive been thinkin would it make a big enough differerence if I modded it mayb up 250 or 280 bhp....any one have any ideas how much this would cost?
Its an import so the badge is on the other side. I know the real thing is defo better but cant really afford to sink that sort of money in to it yet. shall I hold out and wait???

If you think you will be happy with a 2.8 then go for it.
have a look at www.e36coupe.com for the performance them guys are getting on their modded 2.8's
dont forget you will need to spend another 2-4k getting it to where you want!
personally I do not think I would be satisfied

It's only got small brakes Harry (solid rears).
Performance wise, by far the most cost effective would be to slap an S50 from an M3 write off in to it. (All plug n play.)
Whereabouts are you? I'm only 15 mins from that car. (I've considered viewing it myself, but he's got some documents and keys missing which put me off a bit.)

im in huddersfield. Im only 30 min away from him. I think(im no expert) its a genuin car. Looks all good and drives fine, The missing keys did put me off too but then the cost of a good MC would exceed 13000 really so its a compramise.
When I spoke with him he said he should be getting the possible spare key and the other docs from the previous owner.
Seems like a reasonable chap really - no nonsence.
Im just doing more research in to performance upgrades. The idea of droppin an 3.0 M engine is an excellent one!!! I like the sound of it and I suppose I can keep the 2.8 incase the 3.0 buggers up!!! The only thing then is if I take a warranty with it then im sure they will charge good money but atleast its there......what do you guys think about warranties?

IMHO you would have to be bonkers to buy an underpowered/specd coupe when you could (for relatively little more) buy the real thing.
If you buy a replica watch, it costs a tenth of the original, although that is an extreme example.
1/ Wait 6 months
2/ Save some more dosh
3/ Prices will have dropped by 3-5% in that time
4/ Your insurance may cost less if you pass another birthday/accumulate another years NCD (I suspect that you are young therefore insurance cost is very age sensitive)
5/ You can then enjoy modding the PROPER car up to another level instead of chasing the performance of the real thing by dropping in 3.0 engines, putting on proper brakes etc etc. The 2.8 spec. car will never be as good, whatever you do.
As for resale, however much you spend on modding the 2.8, it will always be iffy and command a much lower value when you do sell it.
However, whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck.

AND there's one for sale on ebay, see For Sale and Wanted section; looks like a dealer trying to liquidate some stock so would need a very intensive going over for faults.

I'll check it on e bay.
I think i may take your advice and hold out few months. I think this car would be good for modding for racing....maybe strip it out make some changes and see how it performs on the track. I wish I had the dosh i would try it.
your advice is always interesting keep it comming guys sooner or later im going to own the real thing.

Good decision. You won't regret it. The 2.8 engine just doesn't come close.
What I can't understand is why anyone would want to spend serious cash to make their 2.8 look like an M. Surely the relevant parts (assuming they are OEM) must cost a fortune?

i was thinking that, i was always under the impression that the 2.8 Z3 had a different rear end too, so the wheels didnt fit right etc.
Yea the rear axle on a 2.8 is WIDER than the ///M so putting M wheels on will mean they stick out a bit.
it must have been done when the MC was a lot more money, cos it really wouldnt be worth spending all that money now!

Yeah your rite that 2.8 was done in 1999, the MC's would have been serious money then.
