Have some new wheels and tyres going on tomorrow and also going to the Welsh weekend.
how many miles to scrub them properly before I can start enjoying them properly?

You just need to scrub off the release agent - I would have thought that about 500 or so would sort it.
You're in the same position as me - fronts went on last week, new rears tomorrow.
but - see W/Weekender post ... :D

I have been told 500 before. Don't know how accurate that is though. You better start cruising around!
I asked my mechanic if i needed to bed my new clutch in. He said "no you can just start hammering it now, once the oil has warmed up properly of course"
Feels so much better to drive now.
right thats me going for a long drive tomorrow evening
might have to take the misses for a meal to this lovely pub I know.... miles away :D
just pop down to ASDA and do a few doughnuts!

yes that'll be the rears sorted :D
New tyres are actually pretty quick to bed in otherwise think of the number of lawsuits that the likes of Michelin and Continental would have if there was some sort of 'go easy period'.
I do agree, give it a few miles just to be safe :D
here's one, put the old fronts back on, then put the new front on the rear and do some more doughnuts with them!

Find a stretch where you can drive the car properly round corners bring them up to a hot temp slowly driving nice and smoothly and build it up to some good cornering speeds, but don’t overdo it don’t let the tyres scrub allot. A good 45 mins of this but have a quick feel of the tyres if you’re not sure to make sure they get hot to touch. Once this is done park it up and let it cool down. This will have sorted the tyre and made sure it’s been brought through its first heat cycle. Your tyres should be ready it has nothing to do with mileage its all about bringing the tyres through the right type of heat cycle and scrubbing the surface in nicely.
Tip for doing this with ease is to find 2 large roundabouts Milton Keynes type ones and in-between the two roundabouts you have a long left turning road with a nice bend to it so its loading the right side up nicely at good speed. Now go round the first one 3 times build it up slowly increasing you speed every time you go round nice and smooth inputs then peel of hard onto the stretch and wind it up to a nice high speed through the left hander then do the same at the other end go round a couple of times building speed up then go back and forth slowly building speed and braking later into the roundabout and taking more speed into it work your way to some nice high cornering speeds to just before you can feel the tyres starting to scrub then don’t go past this if done right you can have your tyres sorted in around 20 mins.

Lee,
You'll be following me for the first leg of the WW and if you haven't already followed the Animal's advice, then I can assure you that after the first leg, your tyres will be working well :)

In my bike racing days we used to use brake cleaner and a wire brush.... no idea how good it is for the tyres life, but they only ever lasted 25 minutes!!
whats TOYO's the R888's?
or proxies?
