Radio code programming

I've got a standard Business radio in the MC. The battery has been disconnected and I need to put the code in. The manual says after putting the code in to press the button on the far right hand side of the radio (the one with the "m" in it). I do this and the radio should come on but it doesn't. Any sugestions? as I don't want to have to drive to Le Mans without any tunes.

I think you just put the radio no. in then wait a few seconds?

Press and hold the button?? This was the case for my other half's OEM Renault unit ....
