Hi guys,

Just thought I'd follow up on a post I made in 'general discussion' about the biting point coming down and it getting hard to put into first/reverse after long journeys.

I had the braided hose fitted last week (there's now a BMW part if you so desire) and the difference is incredible, in fact the clutch feels completely different. I've had a few really long journeys recently and the clutch was as perfect at the end as at the beginning.

So totally recommended if you're going to hit traffic regularly in your MC! Bit disappointing to drive a 'normal' feeling clutch though, having got used to the bite starting off on the floor and getting lower as the journey progressed :)

Celebrating 1 month and 2,000 miles of MC ownership in a couple of days time - this car is everything I wanted and so much more and it hasn't missed a beat! Kicking myself for not checking the a/c properly though - cracked condensor etc, but life goes on...

Hi Ben, glad to hear you are so pleased with the braided hose mod - many people can't recommend this enough. You say that the part is now available from BMW, do you have the part no. and cost?

I have an S54 which is sometimes very difficult to get into reverse and 1st so am thinking of changing it on mine. At first I thought it would have a CDV (clutch delay valve) fitted but on inspection it doesn't. Other people have said that the std rubber hose has a small diameter restriction in the fitting which effectively acts to delay the clutch action so fitting a braided hose may well help.

Yes, please! Can we have the part number? :)

The part number on my invoice is BM95.09.0.000.002, "M3 Clutch Hose",
£52.77 + VAT.

Worth fitting because you can get used to forcing it into first/reverse and eventually this will damage the gearbox and/or clutch.

just on that clutch thing, i cant believe how cheap they are for the bm's, i was going to upgrade mine on the evo and got hit with a quote of nearly 2k i think the bm is a couple of hundred 8)

can someone compare how the bm price for the cluch braided hose compares to another supplier, and who supllies if its much cheaper. is it a DIY job?

An alternative to the BM part could come from http://www.hampshirehose.co.uk/.
Buy direct and get it for £30.

Strange part number, does not look like a BMW oem part number.

Further to the discussions about this, can anyone confirm the length of hose and the connector types involved ... ?
(I am looking at getting a batch of these made up, hopefully for less than £30).

If anyone can confirm the BMW braided hose part number that would be appreciated too!

Thanks.

I made mine for around £5.

The ends are standard metric 10M X 1.0 thread, I can't remember whether they're convex or concave ends, but they're about a quid each.

Hi

I think both ends are concave 10 mm X 1mm pitch threads 330mm long, it was a couple of years ago when i did mine.

To help me get these braided hoses made up, has anyone got an original that they can post to me??
(I can then send it onto the hose manufacturer so that they have a 'pattern').

Once they have sight of the orig I can get a price, so ... anyone else interested?

I would be up for it but obviously can't send you my original as its on the car.

Exactly the same predicament as me!! :D
My contact (at Goodridge Hoses) can also do braided brake lines - will get a price and start another thread about these.
