You might want to call it by its proper colour. Steel Grey.
When you ask for good money for your car, only a true enthusiast will pay that amount. True enthusiasts are skeptical about buying cars from owners who don't even know their colour designation. Makes you sound like you are an owner who wasn't an enthusiast who didn't care for the car, and are out to make a buck.

            Z3 Coupe

I think that that price is excessive

A 2002 6000 mile car is about to go on sale for £26000 - or so I have been told

That makes your car expensive I would suggest

I think this car is fantastic. I think that it will be snapped up. It is the most sought after colour and is super rare. If I was in the position to buy again I would snap it up. A £25,500 asking price is not excessive for such a rare car in such a rare and sought after colour. It sound like it's in great condition too.
This should be snapped up in no time.

                i think not mate!
                they only made two!

it will be worth a mint in later years, its a rare car in the rarest colour!

if you love these cars which we all do then cost doesnt come into it!
if you dont love them and are thinking about other cars then get another car!

the asking price is fare for the car in that colour!

                    Z3 Coupe

Will we ever know what it sells for?

The true test of price is what someone is prepared to pay .

Yep, I think thats true, so a rare or unusual car will probably be for sale for a long time before it sells.

The reason it's a rare colour, is that only 2 people ever wanted to buy that colour in the first place, the other 100 odd preferred the other colours. Does that make it a sought after colour?
Ebay it to find out

Sorry Neil but IMO you're wrong. You just have to look at the Phoenix yellows for sale to see that they are priced noticably lower than their black, blue and silver brothers. Not sure why more people didn't opt for Steel Grey but it would appear that it is NOW a very admired and sought after colour - we could run a poll!

Pheonix yellow attracts a lower price as its a god awfull colour. So if there was only 1 pheonix yellow would it attract a higher price than popular colours?

So should it be cheap beacuse its an awfull colour that didnt sell making it rare, or should it be expenisve because its rare.

                              Iits simple:-

                              - Until the car becomes a 'classic' then popular colours will attract the highest prices.
                              - When the car becomes a classic collectable a mint rare coloured car may attract a premium no matter how bad the colour.

The cars are not currently a classic, so if its an awfull colour it will attract a lower price and if its a nice (popular) colour it will attract a higher price.

The above logic is only true if the sample size is large enough (simple rule used in statistics) and I owudl guess with M coupes the sample size is to small so results could vary wildly and you may find somebody who desperatively loves the 'grey' colour and because it is unusual doesnt have many (2) to pick from with only 1 being for sale so they may pay more than its worth!

                              a pointless discussion really
