Surrey/Dunsfold Park - 29th July

I've been asked by another zed forum to promote this to MC Owners.

This Meet will start from Newlands Corner near Guildford, the group leaders will lead you all off on a pleasant route through the Surrey and Sussex countryside for a run to our location for a few hours at the Dunsfold Airfield - "Where?" I hear you cry ...

Well, Dunsfold is better known on TV as the playground of Jeremy, James, the Hamster and The Stig ... it's the Top Gear testing ground. Whilst we are not allowed any hot laps or any messing around, we are allowed to have a bimble on the circuit, setup for static photos on the famed Top-Gear corners and some super group shots both on the circuit and in front of one of the 747s that makes it's home there.

Of course, this does not come free and each car will be requested to make a minimum donation of £5 to the charity that the Airfield supports http://www.surreycommunityfoundation.org.uk/.

So not only do we have a great day out, we get to do a little bit of good as well...

Upon leaving the Airfield we'll head for another short run, then arrive at our end venue - TBC – where there will be a nice BBQ to exchange tales and have a shandy or two.

This event is open to all zed drivers and friends of Zed-Cars.EU, all we care about is seeing you at the event and making this the biggest collection of Zed Cars and enthusiasts in the UK.

Its going to be a good turn out, plenty of Z3M's and Z4M's and probably the biggest gathering of Z's in the UK ever. Will hopefully be covered in a magazine too.

Don't think there are many places left if anyone else is wanting to go. I waded through the full thread on zed-cars.eu last night so I could sort out accommodation and event deposit. There had 90 Zeds of different types so only 10 to go and a reserve list would be complied. I posted details tonight on zed-cars.eu of the Donnie gathering in '05 and the record 67 breadvans as someone had enquired about any previous Zed records. The sight at Donnie will take some beating.

Petecossie: checked with the wife and its that weekend we are away. Was pretty sure it was. Shame as I'm desperate to go to a meet and check out other alloys and see what they look like in the flesh. I think a couple of guys from zroadster are going to croft for a trackday this weekend so may have a trip up there for a watch. Doubt there will be many coupes there if any.

Re: write up. Cheers. TBH, if i knew he was going to print my text word for word i would have spent a little more time on it rather than a 5 minute scribble on my break but still happy with it.

Ok guys - looks like the site is dead for now. Maybe funding issues, not sure.

The Dunsfold meet is still on though(as are the others they have) and having emailed the organiser there are at least 50 definates so far with another 20 likely.

Just thought I should share that.

Latest list + a couple of others like yourself who are going so if should be a good get together of M Coupes. Could the biggest since Donnington, so yes a mini meet I suppose. Plus a load of Z roadsters aswell.

Apart from what it mentions in the opening e-mail there is a BBQ organised afterwards on the Sunday early evening. Don't know how lunch will work out as it is going to be busy with the drive and then the track bit with photo shoots etc, probably the reason for the barbie. So don't want to be wasting time eating!

Please note that this meet is a zed-cars.EU event, it is intended for the people who built up the independent Zed Car scene over the last few years over various forums. We are going to limit the cars to 100 and places will go to those who currently own a zed or have contributed to that scene. We will of course welcome other marques if possible and especially BMW M Series exotica who contribute to the wonderful BMW scene in the UK. The event will be limited to 100 cars, although the organisers will set aside 10 addition places for non-zed forum cars. The usage of these places is at the discretion of the organisers.

Please note this event will require a deposit of £10 per person to cover the deposit at the post event party.

Good day had by all, weather held out and very pleasant cruises from Newlands Corner (that looks a good place to go on a Sunday morning if you live in the area) to Dunsfold then on from there to the BBQ venue. At Dunsfold a couple of parade laps and a photo shoot at the jumbo.
Only 4 MCs made it, hopefully a better turnout on any future meets.

No you're not colour blind. Car belongs to PhoenixCoupe who had travelled all the way from Ireland for the event. It looks better in the flesh, but it doesn't do it for me though.

It's a 3.0 litre Coupe not an M Coupe.
