has anybody got some new/old ones they could send me ? I could get them drawn up and possible re manufacture. thinking along the lines of dlc coat to stop wear. have to have some interest to keep cost down need a to make a batch of them

Apologies if I am talking from a vague stance, but a good friend with an M3 convertible tellsme the Vanos was manufactured by Rolls Royce, something to do with extremely fine tolerances on construction? Sounds extremely difficult to manufacture? Keep us posted on your progress on this project

I used to work for Mercedes Benz High Performance Engines (hence merchpe) they design, manufacture and build the Mercedes F1 engine. I still have a lot of good friends there so I was thinking about getting them measured and drawn up and then maybe checking supply cost with someone like X-Trac or Humble. The finish touch would be to have them DLC (diamond like coating) coated, I've seen this used on various components and its rock hard and if they survive at 22,000 rpm wear shouldn't be an issue.

Nope Ben, I was in test operations, 2005 engine (which did go bang now and again) was a peach though we could afford to lose ten places on the grid remember Kimi pulled off one of the best overtakes in Suzuka when he got Fisi on the last lap.
