I think its about time I organised a Rolling Road day for the forum at our place now everything is set up. We are based in Luton, Bedfordshire about 2 miles from J11 of the M1.
If we can get 10 cars I can do the dyno runs for £40 inc VAT each and get some magazine coverage.
This will be taking place on 20 October 2007 from 10am onwwards.

Of course we can do s54's. We have had both Z3M and Z4M variants on the rollers.

I am not really that bothered about putting her on the rollers, It can wait untill I have her remapped.

im getting a hire car, so i might still pop up!
we can play around with the airbox, see if we can get some extra power by taking out the air filter!

Well he does need a break. Thanks for agreeing Ben. Make sure you have your Weatabix and try not to blow the engine up before you get here.
Chippy - we have quite a few cars from the zed-car forum so it will be on for he majority of the day.

Rigors car made 320 BHP. He has a Gruppe M intake (which we have tested and adds around 10 BHP) and MK Motorsport exhaust which are reputed to add 13 BHP. After seeing his figures I can believe it.

Its not down on power Chris. As I told you standard cars make anywhere between 270 and 290 BHP on our dyno.

Yeah i must admit it doesn't feel down on power, so thats a good sign!
So Rigors car made 30bhp more just with a cat back exhaust and Gruppe M? Mine has some kind of carbon induction kit already, so thats really impressive!

I would expect his car was producing good power in the upper range that is normal on these cars before he modified it.
my standard S54 made 324.3 bhp on a dyno dynamics RR a few months ago, (it was hot too ~ 30 deg) does that mean that an s54 is actaully not 4 bhp more but anything between 35-55 bhp up if you take 270-290 of a standard s50 ?

Yes - we have had 4 S54 engined Z3M's on our Dyno Dynamics and they all make around 324 BHP. We have just this minute dyno'd the strongest standard S50 engined car so far - 313 BHP.
The S50's vary a lot.

Hello all,i was very surprised and happy of coarse with 320.5 bhp.The MK motorsport exhaust made a big difference when driving after i fitted them. I also had the car serviced two weeks ago.New oil,filters,plugs etc. Chris,buy these exhaust and you will be surprised with the result. Good day,i really enjoyed it.

The shock of the day for me though was when I only turned up for a chat and a dianostic as the engine misfires around 1750-2500 rpm on part load from cold, ended up putting her on the rollers and making 321.4hp with just a K&N air filter/Exdos mod air box (S50,so not as important as an S54s poorly design air box pipework) and a Gpower exhaust well chuffed

We have tested some Z4M Coupes. Standard they are making around 320-325 BHP. One that we tested on rolling road day had a Gruppe M intake and aftermarket exhaust and made 343 BHP.

I wonder if the one that made 343 would have made that anyway - really need a before and after comparison on the same car I suppose.
Easy decision then if no one makes an aftermarket intake ! I don't think i'll be changing the exhaust as the aftermarket one I had on was too noisy for commuting (for my tastes) and ended up changing back to standard.
looks like it will be staying standard then !

Sorry for any confusion caused
I didnt mean any external pipework of the air box (high pressure area intake x2,pipe work to the plenum chamber)just the oval shaped part on the inside of the air box which is the part thats modded to aid the air flow through the filter, this seems a better design on S50s than on S54s as the oval part on the intake seems shorter, unless its the filtered/engine side trumpet thats shorter on the S50 as to not make the air do almost 180 degrees as it comes though the filter, I think I showed you my air box at Gaydon back in 2005 which I had modded from your photos on here when you were in the process of modding an air box on a silver S54 coupe, not your own! and we talked about the differences then about how the S54 airboxes seemed to be more of a badly designed route for the air to take before the Exdos mod.
