It's got the standard Z4MC mods, CSL wheels + PS2 tyres, Areo Skirts and the Strut brace. How it should of left the factory IMO.

Why didnt BMW fit the CSL wheels in the first place? Best colour and wheels in my opinion.

Yeah, the wheels do look good. Now if you just lower the car by an inch or two.........

I have absolutely no idea, but the CSL's are simply THE wheel for the Z4MC IMO. I've got a feeling that the coupe was set up for a different wheel/tyre combo than the one it comes on, fitting the CSL's and PS2 combo to mine improved the ride, and reduced tramlining against expectations.

Due to clearance issues with my drive I've been unable to, but now they've been solved I'm going to look into it, supposedly H&R springs are said to help the ride slightly.

No my car wasn't the one in EVO, it was an identical car with the same mods.

Nice car, I'm thinking of some CSL's myself. The standard wheels just don't do it!

I nearly went for interlagos myself, but decided black with privacy glass rear looked IMO meaner.

Good to see another owner here.

Nice.

Was reading about your stuttering problems on PH Steve - any better these days ?

No it's still there Si. It's worst on a cold engine, that can be driven around though and you always expect it, so not really a problem and it only lasts for a few mins. The strange kangarooing happens totally out of the blue, usually going from 1st to 2nd when cornering slowly. Once it starts the only way to stop it is to dip the clutch or floor it. If you try and accelerate gently out of it, the kangarooing is amplified making you look like a real nob! Strange thing is this usually happens in built up areas where you are travelling slowly, making you look an even bigger nob!

Maybe a remap would fix it, but even though it's there it is very infrequent so doesn't really cause a huge problem, it's just one of those traits!

hey shunt

my e46 m3 had the very same problem and theres a known fix the dealer reprogrammed the ecu with the latest update, it was some thing to do with the fly by whire throttle and the traction control
it was worse on mine because it was an smg and you couldnt dip the clutch make loads of noise at your dealers especially under factory warranty mill bmw cured it (now coopers)
it had them flumuxed for a while

I've only had mine kangaroo the once, and that was pulling away on a roundabout with sport mode on, it's never done it with sport mode off.
Mine doesn't like doing too much stop start driving.

That's interesting reading, I'd imagine with SMG it'd be a real problem. I will ask the question when it goes in for it's next service.

As for sport mode, that button is useless.

on the m3 sport made a big difference much crisper
and responsive

im sure i read it changed the ignition advance and vanos settings

I don't think Shunt meant that the sport mode didn't have any effect, more that it makes the throttle too responsive....

Hello fellow z4m owners. Pup - i've got CSLs, BMW strut brace and Eibach lowering springs. Only cost about £300 to lower and seriously improves the look. It handles much better but i'm not sure how much as my specialist found 2 of the transport blocks when he did the lowering. Thanks BMW for being too stupid to remove them when the PDC was done. Thanks also for the £250 compensation. (I thought is was a bit harsh over the British road bumps!).

Carbon black for me - I wanted sepang bronze but the dealer talked me out of it. Don't know why I listened. He said the car would depreciate too much. Doubt if it would have gone down any more than it has !

Enjoy the festive period !

I thought the sport button was pointless in the M3 - never used it after the first few weeks, just mde it hard to drive smoothly a low speeds

I found the M3 far nicer to drive WITH the sport button IMO

Have only driven one E46 M3 though so no idea if it was just that particular car or what...

Hello Outrun, Carbon Black eh? I bet that looks nice, I haven't seen a Z4MC in that colour yet but I would have been very tempted to order mine in that colour if it had been available at the time.

Did you have the suspension re-aligned when you had the Eibach lowering springs fitted? I'm quite tempted to have those or the H & R set fitted next.

Oh and if you haven't done so get your specialist to remove the CDV it's a fantastic little mod.

That's pretty much my experience with the Z4MC, apart from making the DSC less sensitive it adds very little to the drive.
The throttle on the Z4MC is plenty responsive enough with sport mode off.

I tried the sport button again over the weekend. In town it makes things really difficult, but on a quick 'A' road it can be useful, you seem to get back on the gas coming out of a corner much quicker. On track it could be useful too, I think it just takes some getting used to. Normal day to day though it's useless.

Are you guys both running CSL's? Did you find once on the 19" rims it needs lowering, they look just a tad too high.

I think mine sit fine on the CSL's, it certainly doesn't appear to sit higher than with the standard wheels, but I suppose if it was half an inch lower it would sit perfect.
