Thanks to Rob (M3 LUN) I'm now rolling on CSL's or CS's. Either way a great improvement in both looks and feel.

Agreed, wheels are usually a strong point for the M boys, I could never understand how they got it so wrong with the standard 18" offerings.

looks a bit high, you should lower it a tad

Shunt

It looks a bit high because of the shadow on the wheel arch, that picture makes it look worse than it is. Although it was always somethng I thought when I'd seen others with CSL's on.

I'm sure it will happen in the near future though, you have to take you're time over these things or else there'd be nothing to look forward to.

Much better, notice less tramlining?
Oh and if your intrested to know if you've got CS or CSL wheels the front CS wheels are 8j and the CSL's are 8 1/2j.

Top Pup shall we stick to this one............

Much less tramlining, the old wheels were terrible on my morning trip to work exiting the M6 onto the M62 (Warrington), I've not been on that route yet but from limited miles today I'd guess things will be much better. It feels much more planted than before.

I'm on CS wheels front, I was told the rears are the same as CSL's but as you say the fronts are 1/2 a J narrower.

A great mod, they should have left the factory this way.

 sums it up doesn't it? You know it shouldn't drive as nice, and every experience I've had with fitting bigger wheels to cars results in more tramlining, and yet on it makes the Z4MC it makes it better. I bet you can see what I mean when I say that I think the Z4MC was set up for these wheels or something similar now.

What size tyres are you running, mine are 225/40 @ front 255/40 @ the rear. As they came second hand I didn't have the option but I'd have gone for something a little bigger and lower profile.

BMW fitted them for the guy I bought them off, so maybe they wouldn't fit larger than stock, or maybe they knew it would work better this way...........

Mine are 245/35 @ front and 275/30 @ rear, and it still tramlines less than stock.

Have you lowered it as well. Good to know those sizes fit, when it needs some new rubber I think I'll 'go large'.

No I haven't lowered it yet because I was struggling to get up the drop kerb to my drive as it was. Fortunately the council did the footpaths outside my house before Christmas so it's now on the cards.

3 years ah I remember those cycles from my co car days.

I do reckon those wheels, skirts and lowering are money well spent however around here the roads are so bad I think I'd hate every journey.

Took me an hour an a half to do the 12 miles to work on Monday

It's not a company car though, but as I'm the only employee of my company then maybe it is, just don't tell the IR.:leaving:

Tyre size wise - I did extensive research and my requirements were:

Tyres that matched the CSL rims,
Tyres that matched the standard 18 inch rolling radius,
Great performance,
Less understeer,
Not too wide at the back,
Fair price.

Came up with 245/35/19 and 255/35/19 Vredesyein Ultrac Sessanta's. Been very happy with the result.

Wheels look great and the car body doesn't look too high off them.

Looks fantastic, I do fancy a Z4C at some point, be it 3.0 or M.

Is it just me, or does that front tread pattern look like it is the wrong way round? I guess they are assymetric rather than directional tyres, but to me it looks like it would 'squeegy' the water into the tread as it rotates rather than out to the side.

(Still if that is the case, the handling in reverse in the wet will be outstanding!)

Paul,

Well spotted!

Someone needs a return trip to "Kwik-Fit" ASAP or swap the wheels over L>R, R>L

They look like an asymmetric design rather than v-tread pattern (you can see the inner groove). They look a bit like Vredesteins.

EDIT; They ARE Vredesteins (missed that bit!), in which case they're on the right way.

Looks much better than standard

I’ve seen a few Z4C 3.0’s round these parts, it’s what inspired me to buy the Z3MC.

People keep asking if my MC is a Z4 (granted they know nothing about cars) most cant believe the age of the car. I guess the classics age well

The tyres are fitted correctly. Have to agree the look is a tad weird!

Z4 MC's with 19", what tyre pressures are you running

Shunt

I think at last check I'd opted for 31psi front & rear.

I've played around with pressures and find much more grip on slightly lower pressure. I use 29 all round. My tyres are 245 and 265 though so maybe a slight difference there. My cars lowered by the way and no rubbing issues whatsoever. Looks better too. Eibach is the way to go.

Shunt, have you done the CDV mod yet?

top pup
18-09-2008, 10:50 PM
Outrun do the Eibach springs make much difference to the ride? I've read a few comments saying that the H & R srings have a slightly better ride than stock and wondered how the Eibachs compare.

Shunt
19-09-2008, 11:34 AM
Yeah, I did the CDV mod after the first week. Not sure I want to lower it though.

I can't comment on the ride difference as when the Eibachs were being fitted, the installer found two of the original suspension travel blocks in place. I thought the ride was bone jarring and it turned out it was because there was no travel at all !! I made the Main Stealer pay compenation though which covered the cost of the Eibachs !!

I've used Eibachs before so didn't even consider anything else.

Now for a new exhaust.......
