A shelf in my garage collapsed, result - new wing mirror, wing and door skin required. To say I'm pissed off is a huge understatment. Also £500 excess and 9 years no claims down the pan. Bugger.

Nasty. Would your home insurance cover this ?

Not usually, the most direct insurance takes the hit, ie car covers car even though it's in the confines of the house.
Partly my fault too, but we'll not go there. :iamwithstupid: Can we change that to 'I'm stupid'

Nope, No protected no claims, hence not happy. Only pleased it didn't take the rear wing too.

How much extra is it to protect your no claims out of interest ?
Insurance is a right scam isnt it.

Gutted? I bet you are.
Is it worth claiming on your insurance? What with your excess and the extra you'll have to pay for insurance next year if you loose your NCB it must be getting close to the cost of the repair.

It's deffo an insurance job, estimate came back at £2k, so even with a £500 excess it's got to be worth claiming. At least the insurance are letting me take back to BMW, rather than some back street job done on the cheap by them.

I think they have to by law ?

Sorted. Booked in for a new door (they don't even make door skins anymore!), a new wing and new wing mirror. So in 2 weeks it'll be as good as new :yesnod::yesnod::yesnod:
It's all forgotten about now as I've just packed my freshly waxed board. This time tomorrow I'll be in Lech :hurray::hurray::hurray:

It's all fixed now and a distant memory, looking better than ever in the sun today:

Does look good! They're a bugger to keep clean these black cars though, aren't they!

Good call - I admire you guys who wash and polish your own cars - my salesman mentality, doing 30k a year from the age of 22 in co cars, conditioned me the lazy way.

Ahem <<coughs>> I've never cleaned my car regularly by hand until I got the MC. My A3 still goes through the IMO up the road. Although as it's going to go on the market, it might get a proper polish in the next couple of weeks.
