Shame it's so heavy...150kg to 235kg more than the equivalent previous model say wikipedia. (the twin turbo is 1580kg..fair bit more than my CSL and similar to an E46 M3 coupé)

One thing I liked about the Z4 was that it weighed no more than the Z3 before it, despite being much better all round (Z3MC excluded, obviously ;-)

Sounds like the new one is targetting the SLK rather than the Boxster, which IMHO is a pity.

IMO, weight will become a far more significant factor in the future of sports/saloon cars, both for performance and mpg. If you bring out an updated version of an existing model, it should weigh less, not more.

Does anybody know how much the boxster s/cayenne weighs compared to the Z3MC (which is about 1,440kg)?

Think the Boxster and Cayman are around 1360-1390kg. Not much between the two cars, in fact standard I think the Boxster is now quicker in a straight line.

It's odd that there's a market for X5 and X6 to be M forms but not the Z4.

X6M looks a bit special.
I am a fan of the X6 anyway, i like the space buggy look, and to add some muscle makes me like it even more.

Anyone know if the X6 is good to drive?

I'm not so sure there is a market for the X5/6 M....Not many sold against the predicted numbers.....I've driven the X5M thought it was a complete move away from what 'M' really stands for.......M cars are not AMG's.....big engines and BHP numbers to massage ego......

BMW need to be looking at the brilliant little 1 series coupe.....now that would be an 'M' car worth waiting for....

Its a test to see what the interest is/was. Let it slip that you won't be making one and you can gauge the real level of interest monitoring those than complain about it. Then later you look like a hero for bringing it to market anyway due to "overwhelming public demand".

If they can make an ///M vesion of that Frankenstein X6 then they will make a sporty version of a sports car.
