Admiral Insurance offering combined cover for 2 cars looks very good value
for money. Anybody got any experience of their general competence - claims
response etc?

As always hoping not to have a claim but the last thing I want is an
elongated battle with reluctant insurers if I ever have to - prepared to pay
a bit more for good service.

Any other known alternatives for multi car cover ?

I've got an Admiral multi-car policy. For the 3 cars we have at home they were certainly the most competitive on price, very impressed.

Fortunately for me (touch wood), we haven't needed to make a claim so can't really help I'm afraid.

I also have a multicar policy with admiral, I have been with them for about 10 years but luckily have never had to make a claim.

I would be interested in how they deal with NCB. Do they allow you to use the longest or do they reduce it to the shortest you currently have with each individual policy and any idea what happens if you give up on a multi-car policy?

Each policy holder has their own ncd years.

I have previously insured my cars with admiral on a "multicar". However the renewal came through this year at £500 more! Have moved over to a "Tradex" home fleet policy.....fortunately I have no experience of claiming with either company.

1998 M coupe (garaged)
2000 320d touring
2005 Fiesta tdci

(Me and the missus covered on each. I'm 31 with full no-claims/6 points and the missus 30 with 3 years)

£820 with all the benefits of the Admiral policy (could have been cheaper but included legal cover to get very similar overall cover)

andrea.newstead@cglloyds.co.uk This is the contact I have with CGLloyds, have found Andrea very helpfull previously. And speaking to the same person beats going through Admirals telephone system.

Hope this helps?

Did have Admiral multi car, but changed back to single car policies with Admiral now (didn't see much benefit to the multi car for me...single car ones came to similar price)

Ref NCB on multicar - I think each policy had it's own NCB...they seemed very much like separate policies but with the premiums just added up! When I cancelled it the NCB just carried on with the separate policies.

Ref claims, have found Admiral/elephant pretty good in the past.

Have had tradex recommended to me by a trader, also Bollington Motor Trade insurance more recently .. must try these upon my renewal depending on how many cars I have in the fleet then.

Had a policy with Elephant when i wrote off my first MC. They were a nightmare trying to get them to payout market value. They offered my 6K for my 50K S50 MC which was pretty immaculate. They kept saying that this is all they can give as its what the book says. I kept sending them adverts of similar milage and age coupes and they slowly starting to increase their quote £500 at a time (each time they were promising me that this was their final offer)all the way to £12k. I am sure all companies do the same but i was really pissed off with them by the end.

It sounds petty but it was the last thing i needed to deal with at the time.

Have been with Admiral / Elephant for about 7 years.

Have had one claim and they paid out market value as I pitched it to them regarding the cost of the replacement.

I did prepare some detailed documents stating the spec of my car and the cost to replace it and they duly obliged with a payout in good time and at a sensible monetary amount representative of the replacement cost.

You will always have varying stories.

An example, the VW / BMW lot used to swear by HIC / Adrian Flux for being cheap and a good company. Absolute shower of sh1t in terms of customer service and policy pricing.

Luck of the draw.

Hi,

I have had my 1998 Imola Red S50 Z3m with Admiral for the last 3 yrs or so. My annual mileage is less than 500 miles (no typo). The car is parked on-street in central London. Quote was £700 pa comp until:

1. I picked-up 3 points for doing 38mph by mistake (was carved-up by white van man).

2.I then had the car keyed and - a few months later - kicked-in down one side. Rather naively, I put in 2 separate claims for new panels and a respray (10yrs old, faded paint etc).

Despite screwing me on the back of my own honesty (2 separate claims, technically), I must say Admiral were pretty good thereafter and did not query BMW Hexagon's quote for a metal polish etc. Total bill was £1,700ish.

My policy has now jumped to £1,200 pa for full comp insurance, which is annoying, but probably about market.

I am was with Elephant which is the same company as Admiral aparently, they were very good last year when I wrote my audi off and I now have a multicar policy with Admiral and it all seems very reasonable to date.

I have a multicar with them. The renewal for the m coupe and 530d has jumped up to over 1650 this time. Ill be going elsewhere.

Think they are taking the pee out of everyone whos an existing customer.

They always do that with their renewals.

The best bet is to go through an online quote again and get them to price match.

I have done this for the last 6 years with no problems sometimes switching between bell, admiral or elephant.

Privilege have come up trumps for me on the Coupe and the 3 series in the last couple of years.

Done that - they claim because of the increase in uninsured drivers premiums are up whether you have claimed or not. Brace yourself
