Does anyone have any experience of mixing these?
I'm trying to replace my Khumo V70 track tyres with a decent road tyre. The options for 275/40/17 rears are limited and where they do exist they are never in stock. I thought I had it cracked with some Vredesteain Ultrac Sessantas but the Load ratings are different for the set I found:
    Rears
    VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA
    Summer car tyres - 275/40 R17 98 Y
    Fronts
VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA XL (Extra Load)
    Summer car tyres - 245/40 R17 95 Y

I'm not sure how big an effect the difference may have so any inout would be appreciated!

Check the ratings out here: http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?ty...al#loadratings

I don't think that you'll find it uncommon for the fronts and rears to be a different ratings, due to the difference in sizes, as long as the ratings are high enough, it shouldn't be a problem!

95 is 690kg per wheel, so 1380kg for the front axle, 98 is 750kg per wheel, so 1500kg for the rear axle, check your chassis plate for your axle weights, I can't look at mine for you, because my car is 2000 miles away!

I don't know but wouldn't too high a load rating effect the handling as the side walls won't flex as much and will be like driving on run flats?

It's not much difference is it and you'd just run them at a lower pressure if necessary!!

It's kind of arbitrary since you'e got stiff-walled semi slicks on at the moment I wouldn't worry as long as the load rating is high enough for the car, any extra will probably just lead to a stiffer sidewall/carcass but it still won't be near the V70a.

So for track driving, aka smooth tarmac, is a hard sidewall better as it gives-less hence less roll?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm assured that the difference will be minimal and wont upset the balance. Spooks, It's not nearly the same as the runflat / non run flat set up. I did that once on my 3 series touring and ...Wow. I can vouch for how staggeringly bad it is. Yeah. Harder side wall for track days. The V70s are great but get a bit tiresome on the road.
