Default Engine Knock

Need some help.

Got the car back from the mechanic and its got a couple of new noises? When driving and the engines cold it makes a whine/rattle noise. Its very faint and it stops once you touch the throttle. Only starts when your going 20 mph and over.
Theres also a constant knock when the engine is at idle. More when the engine is hot. Open the bonnet and you can here it clearly. When you rev it gets slightly faster.

Anyway I can attach a video? I have a video of the knock.

What work did you have done by the mechanic Chris?

The mechanic fitted a new rocket cover and plenum chamber. Would this be the reason. Would this affect the Vanos seal perhaps?

The car was fitted with a rebuilt vanos in the past from MrVanos.com. So the Vanos itself shouldn't be broke?

The mechanic also fitted new gear shifter and a few other things, but the rocker cover was the only engine related thing.

Did you replace the rocker cover gasket seal and the 16 (approximate) rubber heads as well as the rocker cover itself?

That sounds like a worn vanos to me. Stacey's roadster had a similar noise before Mr Vanos did his work

They come with a 2 year warranty from Mr Vanos so I'd get in touch and send the link to the video

When I saw him he mentioned that he had revised his process c. 2011 to improve it

Does sound like vanos - was the oil changed at all? Sometimes it pumps back up and the noise seems to go away. I recall mine used to growl on overun when I got it back in 2005 but doesn't seem to do it now as much.

Thanks for your help. The mechanic is due to ring me back. And I’ve emailed Mr Vanos with a link to the video.
How much is a rebuilt Vanos?
