  • Tyre shine

Just finished off a can of "Car Plan, Tyre Slik", which despite the name does get some good reviews!

What do people use to get their tyres looking good as new? What is best on a balance of ease to apply, longevity and cost?

    Cheers

As one who also enjoys a shiny tyre, I would recommend mcguires endurance gel applied with a dishmatic with the green pad carefully cut off.

In my 25 year quest for the perfect shiny tyre I have yet to find a better product / applicator

I also use the Meguiars endurance (£10 from Halfords)

Also use Kleers tyre dressing for Concours events as this makes the tyres look brand new

Sounds like a good place to start then.

Does the Kleers not last long then, Dave?

I use someone's tyre gel and apply it with an old shoe shine sponge which is in a plastic case so you don't get the gel all over when you put it away.

Best advise is to ensure the tyres are clean and devoid of oxidised rubber as that reduces the life of the shine so give them a good scrub when you wash the car. The sim ones stuff lasts ages and gives a good shine.
