  • Anti-Corrosion Work

When the car was in at the garage this week for service and MOT I had asked them about replacing the fuel lines as they keep coming up as an advisory on the MOT. The guy had a look and said that as there was a bit of corrosion underneath he recommended getting that seen to at the same time as the fuel lines would require dropping fuel tank, rear axle, prop shaft etc anyway. Also possibly an opportunity to do some re-enforcement around the sub-frame as well, not that the car needs it, no signs of any issues.

Has anyone done this type of work on their cars? If so what did you get done?

Unfortunately the garage that they recommended, Chizfab in Lochgelly (Scotland), is no longer trading.

Are there any Scottish owners who know of any places that do this kind of work?

    Cheers

I'm part way doing my car at the moment. From a corrosion point of view he underside of my car is in pretty good shape, but since I had the rear axle & fuel tank off I thought I'd sort it. I've been using POR-15 which seems to make a decent job.

I stripped my car down as I had a very small crack on the diff mount. I definitely caught the boot floor issue at an early stage, as found various spot welds either cracking or cracked. I've drilled these out and plug welded them. In honesty its a big old job, and if I'd have known how big the job is I'd have found someone to do it for me! I'm getting close to finishing it off now, so very excited about getting it back on the road...\

Depending on which fuel lines they are, you may be able to replace them without dropping the tank.
