Another option is a non-OEM mirror base, which I'm sure somebody had used to overcome a similar problem in your other post describing the wobbly mirror. I believe they are made from plastic but once painted look the same as original base.
I'll keep searching to see if I can find details unless anyone else on here can remember about these items.

According to Google Translate
"Also for the M-variant we have a repair to repair broken and corroded mirrors! Based on the pictures you can see the condition before and after the repair with a new plastic base! M mirrors are repaired when broken indoors with a V2A insert. The base is the same as the standard mirror"
Finally have the mirror back soon the car!
Totally happy with the parts supplied, new plastic base, shaft pin and starlock washer!
Complete bastard to put this back together though!
Had to cut and re-solder wires that travel trough the shaft!
tools used
long bolt and nut
22mm copper pipe (15mm lengh)
appropriate sized washers
socket and ring spanner
Using the above to pull back the starlock washer into position! basically tightening the bolt up (washers either end) that you place inside spindle/shaft, the copper tube fits nice into washer and give the machine press required!
