One quiet Monday morning on the way to work, two weeks after four new wheels, four new tyres and a respray... and an engine rebuild. Was also due to be my wedding car the following month. Now drive something with traction control.

Seriously, absolutely gutted for you, but at least you're OK. Metal can always be replaced, however much a pain it is to lose a cherished motor.Col N.

Now driving a non-M Z4 Coupe, but there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about the M Coupe. Insurers did eventually cough up more than I paid for it, but didn't cover the cost of the work I'd had done. When a garage avails itself nearby no doubt I shall revisit this wonderful, frustrating, ridiculous and addictive little motor. In the meantime 38mpg makes a welcome change.
