  • M badge placement

Have to fit a new M badge on the tailgate as some little wan*** decided they liked mine so much they wanted it. So does anyone have the exact fitting measurements. Some came with the new curved badge but somehow they don't seem right. I want to check before fitting it in the wrong place ops:

Was it only fitted recently? I would have though they'd be a faint outline from the old badge?

It's kind of evenly spaced from the edge of the boot and middle of the flat panel.

The cuved badges were on the S54-on models, the rear S50 badge is about £18 but the S54 rear badge is near £30.

No mark from old badge as it was polished out just before Le Mans. I already have the badge, just wanted verification of the fitment.

on the S54 the top of the badge is in horizontal line with the top of the light cluster and the left hand point of the badge is in vertical line with the left hand edge of the light cluster

if that makes any sense :?: ops:

That's what I mean, it appears as though they are set a different heights. Anyone know the proper placement as per BMW?

The bottom of my badge is level with the top of the cluster but about 30mm or so in. I don't think it will matter too much as long as it's around there and not sat right on an edge.

This image (third one on top row) shows it in a higher placement than the instruction guidelines I got with the new badge from LeatherZ

looking at various pictures it seems that there are two positions - one where the top of the badge is level with the top of the light cluster, and one where the bottom of the badge is level with the top of the light cluster.

Not sure if this is a difference between S50 and S54 but mine and Exdos are the same (and are both S54's).

There is a difference between the S50 and S54 rear badge placement - in my experience (ie seeing a group of ZMC's together at a Welsh Weekend) the S50's sit a lot lower.
IMHO the S50 position looks a little better.

Think it's the S54 that sits lower down - from the ones I've seen anyway. If you look at pictures in the gallery the picture of Exdos car on ramps is quite a good one to use - same positioning as mine (both S54's)

Mine is a little lower down than the diagram Ivo posted - either that or the light cluster goes a little higher up.
