  • Part numbers for standard springs.

Just renewing some suspension parts. And I want to keep my car standard. I've had the local dealer install new rear springs.

Does anyone know the part numbers for the standard rear springs - just so I can ensure that the dealer have installed the correct ones. I did have a look in some of the usual places, but couldn't find the number.

Guess how much I trust the local dealer :-)

    Thanks.

BMW say the springs are different for each car (depending on spec) hence realoem etc don't show part numbers but I am sure there are some numbers on the forum somewhere.

          Found this on another site,

          S52 Springs--------------Shocks
          Roadster
          F 31 33 2 228 473-------31 31 2 228 417/8
          R 33 53 9 070 128/9-----33 52 1 228 358
          coupe
          F 31 33 2 228 473-------31 31 2 228 417/8
          R 33 53 9 071 957-------33 52 2 693 756

          S54 Springs--------------Shocks
          Roadster
          F 31 33 2 228 473/4-----31 31 2 229 765/6
          R 33 53 9 070 128/9-----33 52 2 693 756
          coupe
          F 31 33 2 228 473/4-----31 31 2 229 765/6
          R 31 53 9 071 957-------33 52 2 693 756

In general, where there are two spring numbers, it depends on what equipment you have. For example, the roadster 128 goes to a 129 when adding a hardtop. NA equipped S54 coupes would use the 474 versus the 473.
The two numbers for the front shocks are left and right.

You can find the spring part numbers for your chassis number by following the instructions on this link,

              Thanks Dave.

Believe it or not, my dealer has replaced both rear springs for me and recharged my aircon for a total inc VAT of £270. Having said that, they replaced the condenser a few months ago and are trying to trace a very small remaining leak somewhere.

And that includes a lift 15 miles each way to my house.

I've got one new unused front spring if anyone is interested, £40 inc delivery in the UK.

I've noticed from the part numbers listed above by Dave that this is actually an s54 part number. I'm not sure if the springs are actually different from the s50 or if it is just an updated number.

Its the correct part number for UK S50 and S54 Coupes I think

Dave - just to say many thanks - the dealer did indeed put the correct parts on. The rear spring set was the same part number as yours (my car is also an S50 with all options).

Hi, I'll take that if still available?
