  • Rear wiper - won't stop!! Slow clock.

I'm working away at the moment, but one thing I've got to address with the new purchase when I get back to UK is the rear wiper.
The problem I encountered was when it was raining if I put the rear wiper on, it would keep going intermittenly no matter what I did with the wiper control. If I stopped the car, switched engine off it was then OK until the next time I used the rear wiper. Wondering if anyone else has had same problem in the past. Did a search but didn't come up with anything. Been thinking it maybe a short in the wiring in the rubber boot between the hatch and the body or is the column switch.
    Any ideas??
Going to do the VW Golf mod, my wife has a Mk 6 so I can pinch wiper off it for a try out!!
Also anybody got a dash clock they don't want, mine goes eveeeer soooo slooowww. New one's are quite expensive I believe. Keep looking on Ebay but haven't seen one so far. If anyone comes across one at a breakers etc please let me know. Working offshore so only have limited access to the net.

if you cant cancel the wiper from the stalk control it does sound like a wiring issue normally caused by the rear hatch struts becoming weak and allowing the hatch to open
too much stretching and snapping the wire harness in the process - full write up in Keiths journal

My clock's stopped altogether and my son's (ex-BMX techie) suggestion is to get a Z3 clock off ebay and swop the innards. Haven't got round to doing it yet.

I looked at the cable bundle inside the rubber boot at the point between the roof and the hatch. I didn't see anything obvious so therefore didn't repair anything, just put the rubber boot back. Strangely enough it's been OK since!! So from that can we deduce the problem is in the at area and just moving the cables has temporarily rectified the problem?
I'll revisit the area when I have more time to see if I can clearlily identify the cable in question and look a bit closer. Weather needs to improve and get a bit warmer before I do that.

In mine, rear wiper turns of if I push the lever 3 times back to back. It was the same in my old mc too.

                  I'll try that.

Went out in the car this morning, used the rear wiper and it was ok the first time I used it with the rear wash. Then the second time without wash it reverted to continous wiping be it with a large intervals between sweeps. Switched engine off which seems to reset wipers to off position. Very annoying.

In mine, if I give the lever a long push, the wiper will active together with the wash spray. Letting the lever free will deactivate both the wiper and wash.

If I shortly push the lever, then wiper is activated into intermittent mode wiping once every 10 sec or so. Another short push will deactivate.

I have never fully understood the logic.

Is there a way to get it into continuous wiping mode without the washer ?
