  • Wanted - Door Tweeter Grille (left side)

Wondering if anyone has one of these tweeter grille/covers in good cosmetic condition? The one near the quarter-light at the top front of the left hand door.

Mine has gone a bit corroded. For some reason this has happened to both my M Coupes - on the left side in both cases.

I'd booked the car in to the BMW dealer (for this Fri) to have this replaced at the same time as the central locking actuator in the same door and an oil service. However, six weeks after the booking and two days until the car is booked in, they've told me the part is on back order.

Not the most major of deals, but a bit of a pain because I'll only be in the same country as the car for a few days. And I guess it would be better only to open the door once :-)

    Thanks for reading.

Just mask them up and spray with satin black aerosol or try zettiworld in Germany as he was advertising them on his website.

Thanks Dave. I've asked the dealer to spray it when the door is off.

Meanwhile if anyone on the forum has a spare one, I'd buy it as I only have this weekend as the opportunity to get these few things straightened out on the car.

Thanks for the link to the German site - I'll use that as a plan B. :-)

Here's the details on refurb - I have just re-sprayed them again as they were starting to oxidise again after 4 years

Hi Dave. Thanks for this. Did you paint them in situ? I'm keener to remove to paint in order to protect the speaker cones from spray.

Yes didn't want to remove the door card so just masked up and gave the grills a dusting of paint with no visible over spray on the speakers

I've done the job on my roadie. It's possible to remove the grill from the speaker to paint but you do need to remove the door card first.

I had mine off recently to clean them, doesn't take long at all once you know whats holding them on.

1 Bolt under the little tab where the mirror controls are on the drivers side

A load of poppers round the edge of the door card

One bolt holding the speaker grill and two torx bolts holding each tweeter to the grill.
