  • Aircon compressor replacement

Has anyone replaced their aircon compressor themselves? I'm struggling to find a 'how to' guide online and it's not covered in my Bentley as I have the S50 engine.

Here's a couple of pictures of a removed compressor which shows the brackets and how its mounted (which may help) the inner large bracket doesn't need to be removed,

It's pretty easy, had mine in bits last week as I was told I had a failed clutch. Turns out that the drongos in the garage had not checked the tensioner on the belt so it was simply just slipping. This is after I bought a new compressor! About an hours job from underneath and you have to lift out the washer fluid reservoir to loosen a/c pipes. I loosened of right side of anti roll bar to make more room too.

Anyway I have a fully working excellent condition genuine Bmw compressor for sale that came off a 44000 mile car. (S50)

Pm me for more info, photos and a price if interested.

Thanks for replies - that helps a lot I had a mobile aircon guy out today as my aircon hasn't worked since I got the car. As I've still got the bumper and headlights off the car I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to get this sorted. Turns out the compressor is seized (probably due to lack of use), apparently you should be able to turn it fairly easily by hand with the engine off and mine barely moves. I'm getting some prices for a replacement but I will drop you a pm. Thanks again.
