  • Switchgear illumination.

    Folk,

Just gave my Z3MC a good long few drives and pleased to say all went just fine.

Haven't driven much recently so forgot - is it correct that the following 4 switches (sunroof, rear fog, aircon, recirc) are not illuminated?

This seems a bit random. Does anyone know the rationale?

    CB

PS: I looked high and low - but there are no Z3MCs in BMW Welt museum in München. No Z8 either. They do have a Z3MR - and just about every other BMW we've ever heard of.

Sunroof switch doesn't light up which is down to a wiring fault at the factory - rear fog switch doesn't light but you get a light in dash binnacle - a/c switch buttons only light up when pressed in (on) position

Thanks folks. Every day's a school day. How easy is the sunroof switch to get out, without damaging anything? And is it just a case of popping both connecters off the switch and popping them back on the other way around? Ie no swapping of wires within sided plugs?

        Thx.

If you swap the wires over the lamp is continually "on" when the ignition is on but its not that bright...simple thing to do tho..

When i first got my car...nearly ten years ago...i didn't realise the light switch illuminated however when the switch packed up and i needed to replace all was revealed! then of course the light in the ashtray was a further Revelation!
