Alter it to a non-rattling level

I'd remove the door trim & membrane, lower the window and look for anything obvious when it rattles. I put a door card removal guide together here when I had my roadster http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11887

If its both windows, is it not a lubrication issue? My car benefits greatly from regular lubrication of the rubbers/channels.

Maybe a bolt is loose that is hold the assembly on and at certain heights it keeps it tensioned.

I highly recommend getting new window sliders and/or greasing the sliders/guides. They are easy to fit once the door car is off; you just lower the window a little, pop the slider out of the eletric motor arm and slide it out of the glass channel.

I did this to mine when I had it stripped last year for repaint and the windows glide up and down like a new car now.

Yea they are quite easy to do once you get started. I bought new ones from BMW, the ones that came out of mine didn't look worn so it may have just been the fast that I lathered the channels with grease when putting the new ones in that helped but was easy enough to do anyway!

As well as the usual slow up and down motion, my car also had that clunk/thunk on the driver's door as it went past half way on it's way down (and up). That has gone since replacing the plastic guides.

Had a look at this this morning...also have new sliders to instal, roughly how far does the window have to come down? I did not remove airbag etc..so could only see the sliders when they was at the bottom, definatly could not get at the clips that hold the sliders on when at the bottom...so have i answered my own question? TIA Mel.

It's about half way down from what I remember. The airbag might be in the way.
