  • z3m coupe (black)

Hi all, not sure if this advert is current, but it is listed on his site as for sale. Did a quick check and the millage was 108,788 in July of this year, the advert lists as 105,000 but he could just be rounding down!

the interior looks tatty, steering wheel and seat bolster, just wondering if anyone new the car?

    Thanks, Dave

Given that it’s listed with a dealer now at £24,950 with 109k miles I think you’ve found an old advert. It was also listed at £19,995 in Jan 2017 as discussed on a thread on which you commented (https://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showt...375#post179375 ). The fact it’s now up for £5k more ought to give you a hint as to what the market has done in the last twenty months or so.

You’ve previously commented that these “are hugely overpriced” but it really depends on your criteria and definition of value. One could argue that the air cooled 911’s are also overpriced since they could be outperformed by a three year old Golf GTi and yet cost significantly more - but I know which I'd rather be driving. If you look at things like production numbers, driving experience, and the unique styling of the M Coupe there’s not much else (if anything) that ticks the boxes.

Pardon me for saying, but talking down the value of these cars on a forum dedicated to the model seems an odd approach / entry to ownership. I think you’d be better off finding a motivated seller and giving your tactics a try with them. As you’ve stated previously some have been advertised for a while now so you may even find a dealer who would like to free up some capital. On the other hand, sellers may simply be aware that these are not Vauxhall Astras and buyers are few and far between but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are not worth the prices asked.

Remember, you have to pay to play!
S54 Black / Imola. S50 Titan / Black. And some bits from Stuttgart.

There are few cars that can match the coupe for on road presence, feel and kudos. I’ve recently had other drivers in Ferrari 458’s and mclarens giving me the thumbs up, rather than the other way round, which just shows you that for those that know what these are, their value is appreciated.

In terms of trying to bag a bargain, at 18-20 years old for an s50, almost any car except the low mileage mint examples, will have issues of some sort, whether they are cosmetic, electrical niggles, etc etc. It’s a case of going for the best compromise.

If you are looking for a 20k car you are better off accepting that as a fact and embracing the jobs at hand. Personally, I went for a mechanically solid car with cosmetic issues that I enjoyed getting sorted and watching the car come back to life.

You could do a lot worse than PaulG’s black s50 for sale. It’s a well loved car and the best I have seen at that end of the market. Previous reg was S50 COU and I think there are some threads/pics of it from years gone by.
