Hello, My name is Chris and i've wanted a Z3MC ever since the historic feature in Car Magazine many years ago. Since then i've owned an RS4, an Alfa SZ, a TVR T350 and now have a 993 but never got round to owning one.

It's time again to move on and once I sell the Porsche I will be seriously hunting.

My ideal purchase would be a metallic black S54, with black interior around the 70K miles.

If any of you guys have any info on cars becoming available I would be most grateful.

Just sold my 993 and bought my old M Coupe back from the guy I sold it to...two and half years of misery without it in my life. V107 FDF is back. You're making the right decision.

Glad to be back in the family.

You guys have got it all wrong ...... you need both a 993 and Z3m in your lives

On a serious note its different for me as I wanted a coupe and a roadster, there is not much logic in running two classic coupes.

To the OP which 993 do you have. Strong demand for the right spec / mileage this year ;-) with prices on the up and Z3m coupe prices seemed to have dropped.

            Are you on 911UK ?

Would agree about cautiously selling a 993 when the prices are going up all the time. Z3M Coupes are flatline right now, they haven't changed for years but are still a solid buy compared with almost everything else out there.

However, it would have to be the Coupe unless the Roadster had some kind of metal frame from A-Pillar to the rear bulkhead, and then you may as well put a roof skin on it

Ah but I only tootle about with the roof down so I don't mind if the rest of the car bends a little.

I would think the Z3m coupe prices have definitely fallen a little over the past 2 years ie you see many more around the £10k mark than you used to but as always with cars like these its all about condition (2 years ago a car at £10k was either a cat C/D or very high mileage ?)

I have a 2001 S54 in Titanium silver with black interior on 63k miles. Great unmolested original condition. Had it 9 years and still love it but it may be time for something more practical.

If interested when you are seriously looking give me a shout - you might be able to prise it away if the price is right !

                      Hey, Chris:
I, like you, always wanted a Z3M. I'm in the States (from Maryland), and my first Bimmer was a Daytona Violet '95 M3. Since then, I've owned two Technviolet '99 M3 Convertibles (still have one) and a supercharged Phoenix Yellow '01 M3 (still own; for sale). I also have a silver '79 911 SC. Earlier this year, I came across a black '02 Z3MCoupe w/ 52K miles. I couldn't pass it up.

The car was in great mechanical shape, aside from a minor gasket-related oil leak. I also had issues with the DSC; the light was on when I made the purchase, and it turned out that I needed a lateral acceleration sensor (under driver's seat) and both a steering angle sensor and rotation right sensor. The latter two were not easy to solve; had to get the dealer involved. Not inexpensive fixes, either. Also, I discovered water under the driver's seat, which turned out to be due to a faulty driver's door seal. Mine also came with a TCKline suspension, which was a bit clunky and unnecessary for me in a street setup. So I went back to the original suspension, which is fine.

I've since added a Dinan strut tower brace, intake and software. Probably will upgrade the diff to 3.46. Overall, it's a wonderful car, and it's compelled me to sell my '01 M3, which I've had for 9 yrs and over 100K miles. Time to move on!

Best of success in your quest.

                      Ryan
