Sump was reduced a little bit by cutting and welding.
I don't already know if the bonnet will close.... but it might work.
If not, maybe I can use an airbox which is flatter but wider, so that the airbox volume stays the same.
I also thought of open funnels, but the german TÜV won't like this

Other option is to make the mid of the bonnet a little bit higher.

Gearbox is also in now, just need to finish the bracket:

Bloody hell. It took me a weekend* to fit a new rear wiper motor ;)

      Impressive work!

Manifold fits perfect without touching the frame.

Jep! I completed the auxiliaries of the engine, built the gearbox support and started to adapt the coolers.

I also welded a new gear shift linkage

Connecting the steering again will be quite tricky... I think I have to build a new steering shaft. I also use a new E46 steeringrack now, the old Z3M one is just

Today I noticed that there is a huge amount of water under the carpets
Does anybody know where this could come from? Is this a common Z Coupé problem?

Most likely it is from the doors that have torn or removed isolation (tiny gray foam behind the door panels). You can test this easily, it starts dripping in the middle of the sill and then down onto carpet. Less likely, it could be cooling fluid from the heater core...

Big radiators from the E60 M5.

The Coupé has an E46 steeringrack and adjustable steering post now.
So the steering vs. headers problem should be solved.

                            Great project to follow!

                            Viel Glueck!

What is your professional background if you don't mind me asking? You seem quite proficient on overcoming some obstacles that would force lots of people quit on such a project.

                            Gruss aus LA!

Great project, I can't believe I missed this until now!

Nice job, I'm quite familiar with a V10 E46 here in the UK and that had a lot of issues with subframe / rack / front suspension when trying to get the motor to sit in the space under the bonnet.

How will you get around TUV? I didn't think you guys could do things like this in Germany?

                                Thank you very much!
Hmmmm.... To be honest I don't really have a professional background
In "real live" I'm an constructional engineer.
But as it's my third car that I bulid, I'm quite experienced now ;)

Usually it's not possible to get TÜV on this, but I know an very very reliable and experienced TÜV inspector who is allowed to check such vehicles.
He can watch my project all the time, so that he can be sure there is no mess going on!

Here's a picture of the adjustable steering rack. Pretty cool feature in the M-Coupé

Also the watercooler is in perfect position now. But using the original oilfilter will be quite difficult. The M-Coupé doesn't have any space under the right headlight.
Maybe I've to use an external Mocal Filter and thermostate.
