I have my own local copy as part of the BM Technic diagnostic system:

                      I can thoroughly recommend it.

Gives you BMW's own INPA & DIS diagnostic software amongst others. Its been superb for me tracking down little niggles and can even perform a VANOS test to ensure correct functionality.

Hi, this looks very interesting indeed ! I have tried to install these tools from other origins to my computer but have not yet fully succeeded. One additional challenge has been the requirement of a real rs232 serial port which do not exist in modern laptops.

This one promises usb connection and very easy installation even on Win 7 or 8 platforms.

Could you kindly verify that you have managed to make a vanos test on Z3m with this software ? Was it a S50B32 with Siemens S50 DME ?

Further, could you perhaps test what live engine data this INPA is capable of showing, i.e. Which sensors it can read ?

                        Thanks !

As you describe, potentially the biggest benefit of the BM Technic setup is that it installs everything for you with one click.

Installing INPA and DIS on their own is unbelievably difficult, this package does everything for you.

It runs fine on my Windows 7 64-bit machine, with the exception of NCS-Expert which is not currently functioning on 64-bit systems, however they are working on this as we speak i believe.

I can confirm I successfully tested my VANOS system using the DIS diagnostic program included in the package. My car has the S50B32 motor with the MS50 DME. It thankfully showed everything was working perfectly!

Here are instructions showing how to perform such a test with the software:

                          Hope this helps,
