Strange to see a OCT 1998 build car on a T plate - it must have be unregistered for a good few months

It is however mine is Sep 98 and flat metallic too. I’ve only ever seen a handful of cars like this though.

Mine is just like that picture, although I’ve tried to give it some life with a bit of autosol.

yes it is unusual, the under bonnet paint should be a flat finish rather than matching the outer body paint.

I can see I misunderstood the question here.
I though you meant the metal(metallic) panel that sits just in front of the fan housing - that's bare metal in mine, but yes all painted areas under the bonnet are flat.
