A friends has a 123d (in West Yorkshire of all places!), he's had the DPF removed and remap, around 270bhp and 360lb/ft or something. It's quick and for a diesel revs nicely. We had a run together and was very quick, I pulled away which I suppose is still good for the Coupe as the 123d had around 100lb/ft more and not a lot less power, considering the S50 is reputed to be more like 290-300bhp.
I think the 123d engine is the one used in the Alpina D3 Bi Turbo, alos apparently quite a nice car: if so, the 123d might be quite a nice proposition, esp if remapped as your friend's is. Interesting thought....
Well I don't think I'll be seeing our 123d again... got rear-ended by a wagon on the motorway yesterday, resulting in a 360 spin across the carriageway, finally sliding the wheels sideways up a kerb which has borked wheel alignment and broken /bent suspension components.
No idea how I didn't collect any other vehicles on the way - I'm putting it down to skill obviously, ha.
Lucky to walk away from this one I think. Poor car though
