KW V3 spring rates?

    Yours must be set at a fairly similar height to mine then, my helpers extend to 67mm. If you measured 80mm of drop, according to my calculations, that only leaves you about 20mm of compression before you reach the bump stop!! I know that mine reaches the bump stops fairly easily, but I thought I had a bit more compression than that!

    When I rework mine to accomodate the 9.5" Apex rims, I will uprate the springs a fair bit, to try to slow things down a bit more, before the bump stops come into play.

    One thing that I didn't think to measure, when I had it all apart the other week, was the "rate" of the bump stops - doh!!

      Don't forget the bump stops are used by manufacturers to create progressive springing. Just thought I'd add that

        The 80mm of drop was measured from the top of the wheel arch on the body to the alloy rim which is outboard of the damper, so the actual extension in piston length will be somewhat less. I've never had a problem with hitting the bump stops front or rear.

          Ah, that makes sense!


          I guess that how far the suspension travels, depends on the roads you use, down here in the countryside, the best roads are, hmmm, how can I put this.....undulating!!

          When I had the front apart, I pushed the bump stops to the bottom, the plastic shroud was broken on one side, so I removed it. Like this it's quite easy to see how far the suspension has travelled. It is even easier to do this on the rear, you can just reach in & slide them down.
