  • Two year agreed valuation lapsed earlier this year with Classicline, so sorted that again this week

I'm not sure if we generally share this info, but in the hope that it helps others:

April 1999 build, 2000 registered S50 with many ACS options fitted, 78k miles on the clock, generally in very good condition but I did mark 'paint and panel gaps' lower this year as a '2' on their grading scale due to a couple of blemishes - agreed insured value £30,500 which I'm happy with given the dip in market values seen since COVID

    • Well considering that I very rarely take the Coupe out over the winter months these days, sliding the back end around a roundabout due to the volume of dust/grit on the road was actually bloody brilliant

(possibly while at the same time passing the Merc that had been so desperate to get passed me )

      • New actuator fitted (£113 ex VAT, my local indy remembers them being around £45 once upon a day) to OS door (remote wasn’t locking the door intermittently)

        • Car is now booked in with Track Torque (Classic restoration and track prep specialists) next month to have the diff mounting bush renewed, so the underside of the car will be getting a full inspection while in with them.

Odometer just turned 79,000 miles, of which I think I've done around 25,000 since buying at the tail end of 2010. Best thing I've ever bought

          • Well this is an exciting day... new bonnet earthing strap fitted to replace the original which had started to snap at the mounting bolt on the bonnet. I feel kind of stupid for paying BMW £23 for this OEM part when there are perfectly suitable cables available for a fiver, but I couldn't have coped with the humiliation at car shows when Dave P does his infamous engine bay inspections ;)

            • And I figured that I'd just document what £200-worth of metal-encased rubber looks like (actually I thought the part number might be useful for some)

If it lasts 21 years like the original has, all good.

Damn I have missed my engine bay inspections as I am sure most owners have

                • New rear tyres fitted this morning in the form of Pirelli P Zero Rosso 285/30/18 again

And any excuse to post a photo of the MC

                  • Boot interior stripped again ready for a visit to Track Torque next week to have the diff cover mounting bush replaced and a thorough inspection of the backend inside and out. Nothing alarming inside anyway that I can see, just the same single spot weld that’s failed, as noted on my last inspection earlier in this journal.

Rogue Engineering top mounts still looking like new.

I still can’t believe how many parts you have to remove just to get those side carpets out

                    • Haha, had to go out this afternoon and decided to go in the MC as I’ll be without it for about a week… Holy sh*t, the ACS exhaust sounds even more fantastic without all the boot lining/sound proofing

                        • MC now back from Track Torque with the new diff cover mounting bush fitted. They gave the boot floor and rear chassis a thorough check over and it’s all looking good around the diff mount so the car didn’t need the new mounting bracket that I purchased just in case. A few spot welds on the left side of the boot floor that I’d noticed appeared to popped have been drilled out and sorted. Great to deal with them no hesitation in recommending their services

                          • MOT passed today. Advisory that rear brake performance is just within limits, but I suspected that might be the case as I'm still waiting on stock for the left rear disc from BMW.
