Hello and thank you very much! I'll do my very best to keep on the fabrication as clean as possible :)
M-Coupé meet would be very cool and my workshop has grown since the last few days! I moved to an 300qm (3200 squarefeet) hall where I have to build up my workshop again now.

At the moment my Coupé spends it's winter vacation at the exhaust shop where it gets custom made long tube headers and exhaust. He already sent me an little teaser of one header. When both headers are ready, they get thermal coated.

          Nice stuff

Had two look twice to see what you mean by "one header"

                  Loving the build journal fabi!!!!!

This may be a stupid question ....why are they thermally coated? Corrosion ? Performance ? Protection for other parts of the engine?

                    Hi Jim!

I want to reduce heat emission on an absolute minimum, to keep the temperature in the engine bay as low as possible. The engine will suck it's air from behind the front bumper, and then lower the intake temperature then higher the power output

Also the engine can create more power if the material of headers and exhaust is as hot as possible. The coating keeps the heat in the material ;)

Another reason for coating is the steering link, which runs near the left header. I don't want to get it heated up to much by the headers.

I hope I could answer your question properly.
In the last few years my english suffered a little bit :(

                      Fabi

Thanks for the great answer. As an engineer, I love the technical side of our forum.

FYI - your English is excellent like your engineering,

                      Jim

It looks really good , is there much more fabrication left to do?

I've to wire the engine and create a cooling line for the gearbox.
Then I need to find a cool place for the air filters and build special Öhlins coilovers with BRT Automotive.

When all this is done, I think I'm ready for takeoff, aaaahhhmmmm, Roll Out

Dream project! Cant wait for a first start vid.

Got any plans to strengthen the Diff mount or boot floor? I'm not sure how long the original set-up will last with all the extra power.
