Default Ron Stygar, R.I.P.

I regret to inform that Ron Stygar left our planet this morning at 5:30 AM EST (GMT + 5 or 6 hrs?).

Only the old-timers will remember him/his detailed posts (including part #'s and then-current retail & whsl prices!), but search engines still carry his web-pages, hopefully for generations to come.

Dave, you may think this belongs in another category here on the forum, but this, the Knowledgebase, is where I think he'd have been best received. Feel free to move or cross-post at your discretion.

While we lost his input and participation a few years ago, now he's completed that journey.

Godspeed Ron.

That's sad news indeed Randy. Ron contributed enormously to our community and whilst he will be missed, his name lives on in many of the knowledge articles he created. RIP.

Indeed he has, thanks Dave, for including the link. It didn't occur to me when posting the news, but should be broadcasted for anyone not familiar with Ron's "Let's ... " style of posting the latest whiz-bang out of his fertile mind!

Ron left the performance and handling tweaks to others, but his approach to maintenance and driving convenience mods and write-ups must've saved thousands of broken trim pieces__but he included part numbers and (then current) prices, just in case

RIP Ron.

I personally found all his write ups (not just on the Z3 but all his BMW's) very useful and used the information from them on a few occasions.

I even got some chrome plated brake caliper springs from him many years ago. (Unfortunately one of them departed from my MC on the Nurburgring a while back! )

LeatherZ.com *may* have a replacement plated spring for you; they carried many of Ron's chromed bits over the years. Worth a shot, unless you can just get one of the standard pieces plated locally.
