  • Illuminated gear stick knob part number.

    Hello

I have seen two different numbers for the illuminated gear knob.

    25112231550

    25112231561

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...081_em_1p_1_ti

Does anyone happen to know which is the correct one and which do you have?

    Many Thanks

A while back__apparently 1-1/2 years ago__someone wrongly stated that the ///M knobs were NLA, so the first thing I did was order a couple of them!

The one on my '99 Rdstr, at approximately 98,000 miles, was getting a little worn-looking, but still illuminated (or it would already have been changed, as that's clearly one of the car's most redeeming features!). It was also getting increasingly easier to pull it off the lever during lightening-quick shifts!

While I was at it, I ordered a spare for my 2001 Rdstr (w/only 45k mi).

The only differences that I am aware of in the part numbers are the connecting plugs; like so many other aspects of the cars, it may all come down to whether your car was assemble prior to April 1999, or afterwards. Not sure which camp the cars that were assembled DURING April fall into!

The knobs are shown as follows.

The "550" knob for the '99 with the larger connector (which was installed immediately upon receipt, so I know it works):

The "895" spare for the '01 has a much more compact electrical connector:

            Part numbers for pre/post 04/99:

A few random shots of the two (2) 1999 knobs, old and new:
