    Hi Dave

    Just checked a wiring diagram that shows the following;

    IBus connection from pin 7 of radio, white, yellow & red
    Live comes through 20amp fuse number 9 which also feeds the radio at pin 9. The diagram shows the wire is spliced in at some point but doesn’t show where.
    The earth is also shared with the radio which is pin 15

        E36 cd changer power cable - cant find a part number for it as it may have only been available with a retro fit cd changer, I have been told that a similar cable is used on the coupe but again no part number can be found and not sure how or where it connects to other than it runs along with the audio loom back towards the radio (it connects via fan connectors in the e36)

                Yes I have to some degree but only that there is a separate cable that enters the boot compartment with the audio loom but still don't know where it actually starts so have given up. Thanks for asking though

                  So I have finally found the answer to my cd prep question - sort of,

                  it appears my car is fitted with the US cable with the wrong connector for the European cd changer A , whether this was a mistake at the factory or because the car was ordered

                  with an in dash cd player I don't know. Anyway BMW found some new old stock cables for cars with the HK system and part number 61108381257 comes with the correct connector for my cd changer.

                    Update , I never liked the way the dealer had wired my cd changer to the battery so decided to use the existing I bus connector and convert it to the correct M bus connector as fitted to the cd changer A.

                    I made up a short cable from BMW parts and this takes the power and earth from the I bus connector to the correct white connector for the cd changer A

                    I also had to fit a new connector to my cd changer as this had been chopped off by the dealer

                    The I bus has three connectors but only two are needed for the M bus which are the light brown and centre red/white if anyone else ever needs to do this conversion.
