  • Awaiting Delivery of New Boy's Toy!

    Hi All,

I've been thinking about buying a Z3M Coupe for the last 12 months or so to use for weekend fun as the F10 M sport saloon I now have is great but not very exciting to drive(!). Until now I never had the space to store it or available funds, plus my better half did not understand the fuss around this love it or hate it car!

I've just found and bought a 2002 S54 and can’t wait for its arrival next week. It's a real find with only 21k miles on the clock and it was the last one of the 165 or so RHD S54's cars to come off the production line (as confirmed by BMW UK), so the car could be known to some of you avid forum members? It's in Laguna Seca blue and is absolutely faultless.

To be honest one of the real drivers behind this purchase is that they are now appreciating in value, so as well as all the fun I will have its also hopefuly a great investment long term.

I look forward to becoming a part of the forum over the coming months and years and will upload some photos once it arrives!

    Thanks all.

Chagac, Welcome and congratulations! Please do us all a favour and tell us that you paid the full asking price 0f £43,850.

I think this car was for sale back in June 2003 at the BMW dealership in Milton Keynes with just 700 miles alongside an Imola Red one in the same company ownership at the time when I bought mine. Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum! I'm not willing to disclose exactly what I paid but it was a very good deal for me relative to the asking price, but certainly more than enough for all you Z3M owners to sleep comfortable tonight knowing your cars are going up in value every day!!!!

Thanks. Glad others also see the investment potential!

Banking on the appreciation of car values is always a risk, just like art, but it's worth it when you think of the return the banks will give you on your savings! Looking at the current prices of BMW Z8's compared with a few years ago I think we should all be quids in!

I think your transaction may have more of an effect than you might first think.

My insurers, entirely because of your purchase, are advising me to change the arrangement.

For those of us who never intend to sell and use them as intended, i'm afraid this all feels rather sad.

For those of us that own one this has to be good. As above as long as we insure them correctly it should make no difference (apart from they are worth abit more).

If people want to buy them as fun investments great, it will mean in another 20 years we should still be able to find a good one once ours has worn out (although may need to start saving now).

The numbers of people like yourself Ian using it as your daily will inevitably become less and less as they get older. The less collective miles all our cars do each year however means that for all of us the MCs presence on the road becomes increasing unique :)

In my mind it is not about how many miles I do that matters it is how much I enjoy them.

Yep, horses for courses etc. For me, the real value of ownership is turning the ignition key and enjoying the grin these cars bring as often as possible. For others, it's about the investment, or the enjoyment of detailing and standing back and admiring their work, or whatever.

Whatever the reason for ownership... amazing cars that you can't help but get attached to.
