A few bits I need to do. rear no. Plate screws are rusty, and plate is looking tired. I can't get the screws out though, hopefully this won't involve taking the tailgate to pieces..... Front shocks are tired...... Bonnet badge is cracked Want to have a good look at diff mount. The boot floor looks fine but I do have a creak from the rear. Will get some photos up shortly. thanks for reading, any advice on rear no. Plate welcome Last edited by M1ke; 07-01-2016 at 05:18 PM. |

If the number plate is going to be changed then you should be able to grind or cut the heads of the bolts to remove the plate and the original blind nuts should fall into the boot lid allowing new ones to be fitted?

I'd break the number plate off to expose more of the screw head and use mole grips on them

Still no photos, which makes this a bit pointless. But......
Original wheels fully refurbed with new rubber KWv's should be here tomorrow ![]() No. Plates received, just need to fit. Costs are racking up! :-0 Cosmetically the old girls not in bad shape however, The rear screen has lost its black border, I assume this can't be claimed as replacement glass on insurance? The front screen is a bit cloudy around the seals, not sure if this is new screen territory or just new seals? The sills have a small amount of corrosion on the bottom edge (inside the wheel arches), need to weigh up cost of repair against replacement. Any experience? I'm off to Cadwell on the 4th July which should be a good run out for it ![]() ![]() Pictures to follow....... |

I think from the couple of folk who have commented before on it, once gone milky the rear screen is best thrown and a new one fitted. Like the front, they're not cheap but maybe through insurance ....
As for the sills , new ones are expensive (ask Fat Tony!) so if they're not too bad it will be cheaper to get them sprayed. Mine also need doing again after some damage so I would be keen to know what your quotes come in ![]() Just don't forget to take the photos ![]()

I have an old rear screen which has a couple of scratches on it in the garage which anyone can have for a small donation to the forum. I changed out for new one when I had the car resprayed last year.
It comes complete with a Z3M Coupe Forum sticker!!!

I had my rear window replaced under insurance, just cost me the excess. Only source of screen is BMW (I understand) so it took a few days to arrive. Its unlikely to be an OTR issue.

Rear shocks and springs fitted.
[IMG] ![]() [IMG] ![]() I have set the rear height adjustment to about 10mm on the adjuster but it looks like it could be dropped a little further ( will wait a couple of hundred miles to see if they bed in), kW settings left as per factory, any recommendations on these? Will look at having rear screen re-furbed ![]() Spooks, which side of Derby are you? I've been recommended a body shop in Wirksworth, will try and get in there this week for some advice on the sills, will let you know what they say. Last edited by M1ke; 05-01-2016 at 01:01 PM. kW's have transformed the car.
the ride is more compliant on road, yet much more planted ( the difference is probably exaggerated by the old front shocks being shot). Top mount swapped over, surprised just how far this has pulled the front wheels in, even with a 10mm spacer they look a little lost. Should be perfect for the Rondells, but more importantly the turn in is great. The next job was not planned but is Vanos, I have lost the surge. Have ordered the Beisan seal kit and will find a day to fit in the near future. I wonder how many of these cars have a poorly Vanos without the owner knowing? Also going to remove the air pump, I like things to be simple where possible :-) |
