The Great North Classic Car Show, Sat 6th July 2019

Pleased to say that this show is on again after the success of the first event last year. Its organised by the Aston Workshop, Red Row, Beamish, Co. Durham, DH9 0RW, though to try to get better weather, its later in the year on Saturday 6th July 2019.

Great organisation, some great cars to look at, the workshops where the restorations were taking place were amazing, mind a lottery win required to get one of their fully restored cars!!

Only problem is the Great Classic Car show organised by Northumbria MG Car Club at the new location, Bywell, takes place the following day on Sunday 7th July. Going to be a busy weekend.

The Aston Workshop event was great! I will probably go to one of these events. Are we going to try and get into the display for either?

I think of the two events I'll plumb for the Aston Workshop as it was that bit different, I got talking with the technician in the machine shop for ages whilst he was boring a V8 cylinder block. The people in the other restoration workshops were so interesting to talk to. The Bywell Classic Show I was disappointed with as the layout at the new location just didn't flow right compared to the old Corbridge site. It might take the organisers, Northumbria MG CC, a couple of years to fine tune the layout of the show site. So I'll give it a miss next year.
The BMWNE CC have been given 15 spots for AW Show and they will be heavily subscribed as we have a few new owners been coming along this last few months who will want to attend.

I'll try contacting the Aston Workshop people and see if we can book some slots.

I know its way in advance but is anyone interested. Looks like I could start a list with a few names so far.

I've been in touch with Aston Workshop and the have replied to say that are interested in displaying our cars. I've given them my phone number to enable me to discuss things in more detail.

Nick Thomas the BMWNECC chairman told me on Sunday that the Northumbria MG Car Club have cancelled the Classic Car Show at Bywell next July (Sunday 7th July). They quoted that it was due to lack of support from other car clubs, which seems strange as Nick had volunteered people to help with marshaling etc. Reading between the lines I think the MGCC must have made a bit of a loss. The Bywell site I'm lead to believe was more expensive than the original Corbridge site with some restrictions on food vendors etc. This all lead to poor turnout. I was going to give it a miss anyway in preference to the GNC Car Show on Saturday 6th. Just a heads up to update your diary.

Had a call on yesterday from Clive Dickinson who is organising the displays at the Aston Workshop, he confirmed that I've definitely got 4 places booked for the show and possibly I could maybe get 2 more if I let him know pretty quickly.
With the Corbridge show being cancelled the GNCC Show is seemingly attracting even more entries than last year.
