  • About to Buy S Reg 1999 Coupe

    Hi Everyone,

I am new or old depends on what the topic or question is ... Anyway, I am about to go look at a 1999 M Coupe in silver with red/black leather interior. I am trading in my W Reg M5 and a 1995 Alpina B3 3.0 Coupe to get it, why? I need/want the performance of the M5 but the economy of the B3, while downsizing to 1 car. I have read a lot on this site about the issues or possible issues. I would like to know if any of you know of this particular car and it history, or how it was treated before i make the deal....

    Here it is...
    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1645986.htm

I have the registration number, but I'd rather no publish it...

If anyone wants to make me a better deal on a trade for either or both of my cars then I'd be happy to listen...I am giving them both up for a fiver as part ex

Thanks...and my wife hates M coupes, so its a good thing i divorced her a few months ago...

    Cheers
    M

I do have pictures... see below....but now the topic has skidded off topic...sorry moderator..

The B3 is automatic but it has the Alpina Switchtronic system fitted as standard. It is number 179 on the register for 1995 and was made for and owned by Mr Sytner.

Both cars have personalized plates which came with car and would stay with them.

What more do want to know?

The B3 is 1995 with just over 96k. It has 2 service lights left on it, and needs the 'inspection' done at next service. I has cherry red leather interior, and an after market stereo (but i cant get the damned radio/antena to work with car). I have only owned it for 4 months as i bought it as my daily commuter car (70 mile round trip daily) vs using the M5 everyday. In the time that i've owned it, a few issues came up so i got them fixed (e.g. door lock broke so driver door wouldnt close, window didnt close right, AC needed recharging, new break pads). All the work i've had done on it was done by A1 BMW specialist in Stevenage. and a load of paper work from its past history. Like i said i need to go back to 1 car performance of the M5 with the 'economy' of the B3.

The trick is of course i need another car before i can let both go....if I can sell both and get a Z M Coupe in the process from here or those that someone one on here has seen then great I am happy to find a way to make deal to make us all happy...

I am near Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire.

                Again sorry moderator.... :)
                Cheers

I've owned it for the last 4 years. I was looking to buy a Z M coupe at the time then found the M5 and decided on practical family man car. All the services has been done as needed, and done by A1 BMW Specialists. I is taxed until November 2011 (as is the Alpina). It needs an MOT, but that simply because I've not gotten round to doing it...was waiting for last green service light to go yellow before getting all it done at once.
Everything the car needed so far has been done, the biggest expense has been to have both front calipers replaced since they ceased up with time and use, as a result new discs were required of course. It is black with black leather alcantara roof, rear electric blind, and standard stereo. It did have the comms package but the corresponding stereo had loads of dead pixels so i replace with OEM stereo and got rid of big phone for a standard middle arm rest. It is a 2000 so it is pre-tax increase qualified, it has 166k miles. It is very quick, and if driven nicely can give you 320miles to the tank.

I honestly haven't thought about what i want on either car....I know that should be worth but worth vs what i could get for them are not always the same...
                    Cheers

Yep... pricing is always the crux of the matter aint it...

I would have thought 10k for the pair was quite reasonable.

M5's are a great car and i do love the odd Alpina..;)

Pity your so far away as i would have had a look myself..

AlpinaMan....I would love to be able to get 10 for both....but being realistic, i think maybe 7 for both....5 for M5 and 2 the B3....

If i can get the 5 for the M5 then I can talk seriously to whoever owns this car....
                        http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2894877.htm

I can sell the B3 over the coming month while i sell me house...

Where you located that Hertfordshire is far for you?
                        Cheers

I thought the B3 would be worth a little more than that..

And i understand that 5k for the M5 is about right as the mileage will scare a lot of people...

Im in Derbyshire,so a fair ride out from yourself..

The MC you have listed is at a nice price,if you do get to see it make sure it has had the vanos done and the boot floor is in good condition ;)

These can be the real cash burners with the MC...

I got the B3 for 3k just a few months ago, so at most i could match back what i paid for it.....but not what i put into it to make it right...Thanks for the advice though.

                              Yea...

Bought my M coupe around 2 months ago and a have spent nearly £2000 getting it to where i want it,and ironing out niggles and problems..

The clutch is a little heavy for me and it plays up my bad leg (old bike accident),so i may consider selling it...

Like your B3,i may lose some money in a very short time..:(
