Default Steering Rack

Hi all,

Hope you're keeping well through all if this!

Just noticed a leak coming from the steering rack so I'm in the market for a new one - does any body have any recommendations on where I can get one?

Ideally OEM

Thanks!

I might be missing something, but is there any difference with this one other than the price?

May as well take the opportunity to fit a “quick rack” off a non-M. Exact like for like fit but quicker response off-centre

Thanks for the recommendation C_W - is it something you've tried? I did a little reading and seems theres a couple of versions, 2.7 or 3.0 turns lock to lock vs the standard M.

Is there anything else special about the M rack that you know of?

I fitted a non-M rack to mine around 2006 as I had a spare one from my old Roadster. It just means less turns lock to lock and a faster ratio so feels a bit more nimble. From what I read the M rack was a little slower to aid high speed stability if cruising on autobahns. All the non Ms (1.8, 1.9, 2.2, 2.8, 3.0) as far as I'm aware hjave the same 2.8 (or maybe it's 2.7) lock to lock rack.
