side sill covers

Chaps.. i am replacing my lower side sill "covers" Question is are they all the same for all Z3's...i dont think so,however somebody does! when i ordered mine from my local dealer i noticed that according to my reg i needed the "wide" version and this was on his screen so thats what i have got...so is there any difference ??? or is the "wide" a code for our "m" loading ???? TIA Mel.

If you mean the metal outer sill the yes you need the wide ones, (narrow body z3's will be the only cars that use the narrow version)

Pretty sure they're the same on all z3s. Only the arches are different I think, would be surprised if BMW tapered out the sills instead of just flaring the arches and making them meet at the same sill.

"WIDE" is mentioned only on the arches (also known, confusingly, as side panel on there).

I have seen two types of sill so definitely wide and narrow versions - I bought aero sills which were narrow by mistake and they didn't fit my coupe.

When I looked into it, I think the following will fit the M Coupe;

Pre facelift 2.8 6 cylinder cars*
Post facelift (any variant as they changed to wide body here)*

Worth spending 15 mins on Real OEM to verify though.


*Normal Roadster I am referring to.

Not sure if any of you guys would be interested but we have a guy over on zroadster.org who manufactures the side sills out of fiberglass hence eradicating the rust problem. I know most of you won't be interested and would prefer the OEM metal sills but it is an option.

When I took a look I could only see "wide" referred to as the rear arch not the sill and clicking the sill part number it said it was fitted to all z3s, but it seems that there's a different part number if you just serach by non-m z3 1.9 etc vs a widebody car.
