I do like them with spoilers, make them much more aggressive. Shame a decent fiberglass company doesn't clone some AC ones etc ;0)

Somebody did (does?), but let's not go there because the forum has to distance itself from association... ACS are protective of their design rights, even for goods no longer available from them

Gave it a clean & took some photos, hoping not to highlight the pheasant damage to the front bumper (into the bodyshop later this year methinks!).

I have popped some chrome bezels around the door lock pins & have ordered some chrome exterior door handles.

Have also removed the side grills as the chrome wasn't fixed in properly and was loose in the bezel. Found when taking it out that they'd obviously previously been removed and the tabs snapped so someone had "hot glued" them back in. I have applied some Sikaflex and am leaving to set overnight in the hope of getting them to seat a little more securely though ultimately new chrome fins are really needed, but this will hopefully do for now.

Next on the list is to get the wheels refurbished in shadow chrome...

The chrome door handles arrived - popped them on this morning - not sure the purists will approve but I think they tie in nicely with the other chrome highlights on the car and look more classy to my eyes than the cheap black plastic assemblies.

Wheels booked in for refurb in June now, so the final bit of "black" will be banished at that point!

                  Got the aircon regassed yesterday.
Took it to my usual place but they couldn't fit me in due them having skeletal staff only, so sucked up and went to Kwik Fit who all cooed round the car and told me two bits of useful info....l
                  1) there's another Estoril blue MC in Andover owned by a chap in his 70's
                  2) there's an M specialist called West-Tuning based at Thruxton and the owner races Z3's... (http://www.west-tuning.com/)

That's two people to look up - anyone know anything about either of these?

Anyway, £60 and 1 hour later - AC is icy cold again. Time will tell if it leaks out but 2nd day today and it's still working perfectly - ideal in the current balmy weather! Finger's x'd it stays that way and I don't have an expensive bill for replacement AC componentry on the way...

So whipped the wheels off to send them off for refurb tomorrow - going back to a more original finish as I'm not a fan of the black:

Also noticed there's a hint of brown on all the arches so next job after the wheels will need to be bodyshop and get the various bits attended to...

Good choice on getting the wheels back to bright silvers, much nicer than that dark finish, or even the S54 finish IMO.

Not so keen on the chrome additions though :)

Wheels came back from refurb today - very pleased with the finish - looks pretty close to the original factory finish to my eye...

After a quick run to "reset" the suspension - thought I'd get a quick shot of how it looks now - very pleased with the outcome:

Just had time before the rain came to also remove the tatty old leather handbrake and replace it with a Storm Motorwerks alcantara one which matches my gear level & alcantara clad steering wheel nicely:

So I think I'll try enjoying the car for a bit now. It'll need to go in for bodywork next but I figure I might leave that until later in the year so I can make the most of the summer months - particularly as lockdown starts to ease...

It looks nice enough from 10 paces but close up inspection it's not quite so good and the next job is to send it through the bodyshop.

One of the previous owners had it repainted about 10 years ago but the finish isn't as good as some I have seen and there are a few issues to be attended to now...

                                - hints of brown on the inner edges of the rear arches
                                - brown on the sill covers
                                - lacquer peel on the front bumper & passenger door
                                - bubbling under the rubbers of the rear windows, along the tops of the doors
                                - a small bubble scab on the tailgate.
                                - scratch on the n/s wing mirror

Oh and I hit a pheasant a few weeks ago and the front bumper needs repainting now!

I think the only bits that won't see any paint are the rear bumper, bonnet, roof, O/S wing mirror & front wings. And the finish on the bonnet isn't up to factory standard but I think it's good enough for now given there's no sign of corrosion anywhere on it.
