For an initial opinion, you might want to call Citizens' Advice. Very helpful and free. You'll probably speak to a general adviser first and if it's a complex scenario they'll pass you to a specialist.

I think the only thing driving this is the fact that what, at the time, was pretty much just an old and run down car, has now turned out to have more value. From all the descriptions in this thread it was tired and run down and probably worth £5K at most. This is what you "lost", not the £20K they are now worth. This should be the most that you would get back as you have had no costs for the last 10+ years and anything you may get would be eaten up by solicitors costs. You seem to have had chances to pursue further and not taken them at the right time. We all have regrets about what we did or didn't do years ago. That's life. I just hope that the 6 years in China have allowed you to get back to a good life. Being a believer in Karma, I think that the best thing you can do is to send the service history to the new owner, letting him sleep better at night and just put this down to experience. What goes around comes around. |
