  • Spare wheel / space-saver

As I plan to use my MC for touring I quite like the idea of having a spare wheel.
There’s a few “space saver” options available that suggest they fit the MC but I’m always skeptical of this on such specialist cars as they tend to assume that because it fits a 1.9 Z3 it will therefore fit the entire range.

Does anyone else carry a space saver - if so what do you have?

I don’t carry a spare - just a can of tyre weld stuff and an AA card. The inflation kit that came with the coupe is long past its use by date so I just keep that for cosmetic purposes...

Thanks Dave - I did see that alloy.
May have to give it a go and see if it fits ok...

When you say "fits" do you mean on the car (hub) or in the boot? All BMW alloys should fit with the standard PCD 5X120 and centre bore is same on all BMWs except E39 which is bigger anyway so will still fit.

In terms of putting in the car, make sure it's not too tall as it might not sit flat on the bootfloor which will be annoying if packing a lot of other stuff in the boot.

I meant as in.... fits by clearing the brake calipers.
Seen that some space savers work on the lesser models of many cars - but the performance models often have bigger brakes and spacesavers don't clear them.

Ah i see, I would definitely say the rear will clear due to the deep hub disc, the fron also shouldn't cause any problems as it's fairly standard sliding caliper setup.
