I have a guilty confession to make. Seca Blue's first post under "Not an MC but, come on..." had a positive impact on me, since then I'd been searching for another particular M.

    Search over, here she is:
Nice motor! I wanted an E24 for years and finally picked up a 635CSI in alpine white tail end of last year. Its a 1983 auto with only 24k miles on the clock and 100% original. and in very good condition. I really wanted an M but could not find a tidy enough one for the money.

I've not had much chance to use it yet, but very much looking forward to the warmer weather.

                With only 24k? Sounds great!
I would hazard a guess and say that you've got yourself a very tidy example then with such a low mileage. I'd have liked the mileage on mine to be so low but then it would have been in a much higher price bracket. There are a number of things that need tidying up on the car as it is no garage queen, having been parked out on the street by the previous owner, but at least he did keep up with servicing and replacement of parts when needed and everything on the car is there and works as it should.
When time allows I'm planning to strip back and rebuild, having already amassed a number of parts. If you didn't already know this site based over in Germany is great for parts and information, they deliver to the UK:
                http://www.wallothnesch.com/?___stor...from_store=ger

Other good places to source parts apart from on: http://www.ebay.de/ (if at all needed, due to your car's low mileage!) is https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/ - a similar site to our Gumtree.

The E24 is another great looking classic BMW and sits well beside the Coupe.
Have fun with her when the weather warms up.

                    Thanks Guido,

This is really helpful info as I've yet to find my way around the E24 forums. I do actually need an original radio head unit as the modern unit installed does not fit in with the retro theme!

Apparently the car was owned for 20+yrs by a senior member of the BMW Owners Club, hence the condition.

I've loved these cars since I was a kid. There was a chap in the street where I lived who had one when I was growing up, and it was the coolest car ever. An absolute icon of a car, almost up there with the ZM Coupe!!!

Good to hear I've been of some help.
Of the different E24 forums my personal preference would be: http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/index.php

I'm about to fit a Becker unit which I know isn't in keeping with OEM but after putting one in the Coupe I realised just how good they are. Everything bundled into a neat single DIN package, navigation (a bit basic but works), Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, CD and a number of other good features too.

I think something like this would look and work quite well in the E24:
                      https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-...74363-223-3176

p.s. I have a feeling we might be going off-topic...
